Lake Placid is designed as a constant level lake, reaching a maximum depth of about 40 feet near the dam and becoming shallower elsewhere. Directly behind the lodge, the water is about 10 feet deep at its deepest point. Water levels remain subject to river authority operations and natural conditions.

The free public boat ramp is at Exit 605 off Interstate 10 on the Seguin side, about five minutes from the house. Watercraft trailer parking is available on site. RVs are welcome with advance permission.

Clean, drain, and dry. Lake Placid has zebra mussels. Texas law requires boaters to clean, drain, and dry boats before traveling to another body of water.

Rent nearby or plan a river day.

Red Beard Boats, about 3 miles away, offers captained boat rentals plus kayaks, paddleboards, tubes, and splash mats on Lake Placid. Laguna Marina is a family owned, 40 slip marina about 1 mile away on Lake McQueeney.

Traditional river tubing is not available at the house because the water is dammed. Comal and Guadalupe river outfitters are 15 to 20 minutes away in New Braunfels.

Parking

The driveway and empty lot next door accommodate around 15 cars. Street parking is not permitted, so please ask guests to carpool or use a rideshare.

Trash

A two-yard dumpster is available. Any trash that does not fit inside it must be hauled away before checkout.

Setup and services

Event services and setups must be outside. If it rains, there is ample covered space beneath the house. Guests arrange every vendor and rental, including chairs, tables, food, and lighting.

Alcohol

Alcohol may be available, but it cannot be served by a bartender because that requires a different type of event license.

Restrooms and accessibility

The house has four bathrooms, but only one is accessible without passing through a bedroom. For events with more than 30 guests or guests with limited mobility, consider a ground-level portable restroom. Accessible units offer enough interior space for simple decor and string lights.

Music and quiet hours

Live music and PA systems are not allowed. Small handheld Bluetooth speakers are welcome at a moderate volume. Sound travels easily over the water, and quiet time begins at 10 pm.
